The 7 Biggest Mistakes People Make When
Hiring A Magician And How To Avoid Them!

Well, before you make any kind of decision, make sure you ask anyone you're considering the following 7 questions. Trust me, it will save you a LOT of headaches and hassles later.

1. Are you insured?  If you're going to let someone you've never met into your home, school or office, you want to make sure they're legit, right?  But most entertainers and magicians are NOT insured—that means they haven’t undergone the background check required for liability insurance.  Play it safe.  Ask for insurance.

2. Do you have any references?  Many performers are good—but some are not.  If you want to gamble, go to Vegas.  If you want to make sure your party is a success, make sure your entertainer has a solid reputation for providing a dynamite show.

3. Are you a full-time entertainer?  Most part-time magicians have full-time day jobs, so they don’t have the time to refine their shows for every audience.  I'm not saying part time entertainers are not qualified, but ask questions before hiring them to make sure they have the experience to create a fabulous show for your guests.

4. How do I know you will show up for the party?  Unfortunately, there are magicians in California who have a bad reputation for showing up late or—worse yet—not showing up at all!  Ask the entertainer to send you a confirmation letter and/or contact you 24-48 hours before the party by phone or e-mail so you'll know they intend to show up!

5. Is your show appropriate for ____ (age)?   A show that works well for children may not work at all for adults—and vice versa.  To make sure your party is a smashing success, make sure your entertainer can provide a show appropriate for the specific age group that will be attending.

6. Once the show is over, do you leave right away?  Some entertainers are hit and run artists.  They show up barely in time for the show, and they’re out the door as soon as it’s over.  Choose someone who will be friendly to your guests and who will be happy to stay after the show to answer questions like, "How'd you get into magic?" or "How did you do that?!" (Well—maybe they can't answer THAT one!)

7. Do you guarantee your show? What happens if the show is a flop?  The best entertainer in the world may have an occasional bad day—but 99% of the entertainers out there do not offer a guarantee.  Why gamble?  Make sure your entertainer offers a money-back guarantee so if you're not happy, you don't pay.
